SUMMARY:SHINE: A Women's Event
DESCRIPTION:SHINE is for women of all ages to connect to our great God and to others through worship\, prayer\, fellowship\, and life-changing truths from God.  This 9th annual event brings women together from our community\, churches and surrounding areas. SHINE is a two-day event\, beginning on Friday\, April 5th\, 7-9pm\, and concluding on Saturday\, April 6th\, 9am-noon.  This year’s event features speaker\, actress\, author and Bible teacher\, Allison Allen\, and Christian recording artist/songwriter\, Tim Timmons. \n  \nAllison Allen (allisonallen.net) From her kindergarten stage debut as a bovine to performing one-woman pieces with Women of Faith\, Allison Allen has always relished the power of story\, the thrill of walking in the shoes of others\, and\, most importantly\, spot-lighting the Ultimate Story-teller.  After graduating as an Andrew Carnegie Scholar from the prestigious acting program at Carnegie Mellon University\, Allison landed on Broadway in the revival of “Grease”\, and stayed there for almost two years. For three years (2007-2009)\, Allison experienced the joy of being Women of Faith’s dramatist\, performing her original one-woman pieces for over 200\,000 women in arenas around the country. She counts walking the same platform as the Women of Faith “porch-pals” among one of the profound honors of her life.  Currently\, she loves weaving Biblical teaching and acting pieces together in unexpected ways\, and is over the moon to teach at conferences and retreats around the country.  Exploring themes of purpose\, value\, and identity in original and sometimes unexpected ways\, Allison hopes to lead women on a rare journey toward the fullness of Christ’s redemption. Sheila Walsh says of her\, “Allison is a gifted writer\, a brilliant dramatist\, and a profound communicator or God’s truth.”  On a personal note\, Allison gardens at mid-night and is married to a good and handsome man – a man with whom she can joyfully wear heels. This is no small feat\, as Allison resides somewhere around 5’12”. Jonathan\, her very tall husband\, is the Worship Pastor at Grace Chapel. They have two wonderful boys\, Levi and Luke. \n  \nTim Timmons (timtimmonsmusic.com) joins us this year as our worship leader and musical guest. Tim Timmon’s life has always been one of adventure\, but for the first time\, the singer/songwriter feels awake enough to actually live it.  After nearly two decades of ministry and a lifetime as a believer\, Tim is no stranger to the tenets of the Christian faith.  Now he finds himself moving beyond believer to follower\, awake and alive to the nearness of Jesus.  His sophomore album\, Awake Our Souls (Reunion Records)\, is a portrait of his own awakening and an invitation for every listener to discover the abundant life beyond belief.  The overarching concept of the Kingdom of God\, evident in Awake Our Souls\, permeates not only Timmons’ music\, but also his daily life—a unique viewpoint shaped by a cancer diagnosis he received 14 years ago when he was given five years to live. “The gift of cancer is perspective\,” Timmons offers\, adding that his cancer remains incurable other than the healing hand of God. “It’s really the open door to speak into people’s stories.” His diagnosis may be the doorway for countless healthy\, life-giving conversations\, but Timmons has far more than a cancer diagnosis to talk about.  Tim and wife\, Hilary\, reside in TN with their four children.  When not singing and songwriting\, he loves to cook!\nSHINE: A Women’s Event:     Friday\, April 5\, 2019: 7:00-9:00pm   &   Saturday\, April 6\, 2018: 9:00am-12:00pm\n*Doors open 1 hour before start times
